Bishop Dr. Timothy Birkett is a retired 2nd Lieutenant of the U. S. Army and retired Executive
of the R.H. Macys. Bishop. Dr. Timothy
Birkett is
the founder and pastor of Church Alive Community Church. He received a vision from God to develop a
church that would meet the “Holistic”
needs of the body of Christ that allows for the Word of God to be used
as the spiritual Foundation for guidance in the everyday issues of living. Bishop Dr. Timothy Birkett has a long history of community
activism. In the 1980’s he served as
cofounder and Administrator of public Relations and Finance for TAPPCAPP
Adolescent Pregnancy Care Program. He also served as Bronx Borough Director
for the New York City Council of Churches and was the founder and President
of the Protestant Conference of Churches and Clergy. He is the Clergy advisor to the Bronx
Borough President. 2nd Vice-President Bronx Clergy Task Force
2001 and instructs a course “Radical Diversity” at Medgar Evers College. In 1984 Bishop Dr. Timothy Birkett successfully developed and
implemented such programs as. ♦ Second chance program for the first time
youth offenders. ♦ He is the president of The Church Alive
Metropolitan Theological Seminary and also instructs an innovative course
entitled “The Art of Preaching. ♦ Started food pantries ad established a food
hunger hotline. This Ministry now
feeds over 900 families monthly. ♦ He instituted an employment Ministry that
educates the participants on how to get and keep a job. Bishop Dr. Timothy Birkett
recognizes and understands God’s plan and how this affects the community at
large. God has been gracious to us. BronxNet honors access producers Bronxnet’s talented
access producers were recently honored during the 7th Annual Bronx Excellence
in Television Access (BETA) Awards. Producers who entered programs in a
number of categories found out which of them were lucky winners. A special
tribute was paid to Bronxnet’s former executive director, Jim Carney, by
board members, staff and access producers, for his years of outstanding
service to Bronxnet. Awards were presented as follows: Best Health Program,
Church Alive, Rev. Timothy Birkett.
